How many hours per week do you spend playing Guild Wars?
not sure but prolly 2much. How many hours have you spent playing Guild Wars in total? 3,150 over 23 months Do you believe race to be an issue in this online world as it is in the real world (e.g. do characters receive insults because of their colour)? color and gender are the spice of life. staying pasty gets boring. What do your friends and family think about the amount of time that you spend playing Guild Wars? 3,200 hrs is time spent i could be at the gym or wasting money at a bar/club Have you built friendships in the game? IG sure, but they stay IG. If Guild Wars didn???t surround fantasy role play, and it was a game based on the rules of real life (e.g. death means death, no magic powers, needing sleep etc) would you still play it? RL is enough for me. i want my games to interact with my imagination and keep morality flexible. Do you consider female characters to be more vulnerable than male characters (e.g. to verbal abuse in outposts)? both genders are set in an "ideal" in shape and appearance and carry no difference in attribute. beyond that vulnerability is only measured in noobOmeters Do you prefer your online ???life??? to your real life? atm real life has better graphics and options. Would you consider yourself to be addicted to Guild Wars? sure |

How many hours per week do you spend playing Guild Wars?
3ish during the week and off and on during the weekend. How many hours have you spent playing Guild Wars in total? 3,571 hours over 22 months Do you believe race to be an issue in this online world as it is in the real world (e.g. do characters receive insults because of their colour)? I think it's a little tough for race to be an issue because we're all playing the same type of characters and you can't see what color the other players are. I've heard racial comments being thrown around, but I think it was more for shock value then anything else. What do your friends and family think about the amount of time that you spend playing Guild Wars? My partner and I play together. The rest of my family doesn't live with me, so they really don't know how much I play or even that I play, unless they call when I'm in the middle of a mission. Have you built friendships in the game? Yes, I've made some very good friends in this game. I've even met a few in person. If Guild Wars didn???t surround fantasy role play, and it was a game based on the rules of real life (e.g. death means death, no magic powers, needing sleep etc) would you still play it? Probably not because what would be the point? You make a character, start playing and then you're dead? There is no fun in that. Do you consider female characters to be more vulnerable than male characters (e.g. to verbal abuse in outposts)? I think anyone is up for abuse, male or female. There will always be some idiot who has to show his ignorance with rude comments. Do you prefer your online ???life??? to your real life? When I get really stressed or there's stuff I just don't want to think about, then yeah, it's a good escape. I've got friend/guildies who make me laugh and help me to forget about stuff for a time. Would you consider yourself to be addicted to Guild Wars? Oh yeah, that I am. Not as much as I was in the beginning, but unless I'm not home, I have to check in at least once a day. I don't always play, but just hang out in the guild hall or where ever and talk to friends. |

How many hours per week do you spend playing Guild Wars?
Don't know, probably between 20 and 30 hours How many hours have you spent playing Guild Wars in total? Between 1700 and 1800 in somewhat more than a year Do you believe race to be an issue in this online world as it is in the real world (e.g. do characters receive insults because of their colour)? No What do your friends and family think about the amount of time that you spend playing Guild Wars? My fiancee sometimes thinks I play too much, that's the moment I remind her that she spends more time online than I do. Have you built friendships in the game? I got into this game because of a real-life friendship. Friends is a big word, some might call them friends, according to my definition they are not (in real life, I have 2 persons I consider friends, the rest are people I know (some good) and care about, but not friends). If Guild Wars didn???t surround fantasy role play, and it was a game based on the rules of real life (e.g. death means death, no magic powers, needing sleep etc) would you still play it? Don't know, probably not. Do you consider female characters to be more vulnerable than male characters (e.g. to verbal abuse in outposts)? I've seen some in outpost, but in general I just think 'grow up'. Do you prefer your online ???life??? to your real life? No. Would you consider yourself to be addicted to Guild Wars? If so, there are many other things I'm addicted to. But, as far as gaming is concerned, it's the only video game I've played in a long time with only a few small sidesteps. |

For what it is worth, I tried to download your Word doc and got a 404 error - file not found. Also, I hope you post your results when you are done.
===================================== How many hours per week do you spend playing Guild Wars? Way too many. Really. I'm playing at least 5-6 hours daily, sometimes twice that, even on my lunch hour at work. To be fair, I only first started 2 weeks ago, so I'm still pretty engrossed with the game, and I do the same thing with non-online games. How many hours have you spent playing Guild Wars in total? At the rate above, I'm sure over 100 hours. GW has this nice little feature that says, "You have been playing Guild Wars for <x> hours, please take a break". I see that message ALL THE TIME. Do you believe race to be an issue in this online world as it is in the real world (e.g. do characters receive insults because of their colour)? If it is, I haven't seen it. Most people don't seem to even really talk to eachother unless they are friends to begin with. What do your friends and family think about the amount of time that you spend playing Guild Wars? My friends and family have no idea that I play Guild wars. And if I can help it, they won't ever know it. Have you built friendships in the game? Nope, and I don't really plan to. There are some decent, helpful people online, and I admire that. But I'm no fool. If Guild Wars didn???t surround fantasy role play, and it was a game based on the rules of real life (e.g. death means death, no magic powers, needing sleep etc) would you still play it? If sex made you feel bad, you didn't climax, and had to be with people you aren't attracted to, would you still do it? What would be the point? Do you consider female characters to be more vulnerable than male characters (e.g. to verbal abuse in outposts)? Again, not at all. I haven't seen a single negative comment online, other than playful "ribbing" between friends. I have never seen someone being singled out in any way for any reason. Even people who are annoying in some regard (i.e. posting a message over and over again in CAPS) are ignored rather than flamed. Do you prefer your online ???life??? to your real life? Not at all. I have a wife and kids, a great job, enjoy riding my Harley and playing my guitar. I enjoy my game the same way I might enjoy a movie, TV, a good book, or any other story based escape. But that's all it is - an escape. Life goes on. Would you consider yourself to be addicted to Guild Wars? You might think so from my hours online, but this is typical for me for a new game. After a few weeks, I "get it out of my system" and then my normal routine resumes. So if you want to call it "temporary addiction" thats fine, but in time, reality kicks in, and the real life comes back into line. |
